Our Story
đź’•A Meeting of Happenstance
Hanna and Jake met in March 2019 at Café Paulette in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. A mutual friend, Sarah Gillett, was visiting from Austin and invited them to dinner. Hanna ordered escargot as a main course which Jake found "weird, but intriguing". After dinner, the trio listened to live music at Skinny Dennis, a country bar in Williamsburg and ended the night at a quieter bar down the street with another good friend, Alyssa. It was the perfect opportunity to get to know each other better. However, Hanna spent that time getting to know the bar's dog rather than engaging in further conversation with Jake.
Luckily, the next day, Sarah, Alyssa and Hanna went for a walk on the High Line in Chelsea and Jake was free to join. At the end of the walk, Jake asked Hanna on a date (he couldn't wait) and two days later they met at a wine bar in Union Square.
⏳Over The Years
Hanna and Jake spent their first year together exploring New York City. They went to a Yankees game and on hikes upstate, listened to live music and cooked many Sunday dinners together.
In March 2020, Hanna moved into Jake's "cozy" apartment in Williamsburg. After a month of working and living in a 500 sq. ft. space they hit the road. They spent the next year shuffling from Connecticut to Bushwick to Hudson before finally settling in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, where they live today.
In February 2023, they brought home a Cockapoo puppy named Gertrude a.k.a. "Gertie" who has turned out to be much cuter and more work than they ever imagined.
đź’ŤThe Proposal
In May 2023, Jake and Hanna got engaged at their favorite picnic spot in Prospect Park with Hanna's mom there as witness and their dog Gertie (of course!).
They continued to celebrate their engagement on a trip to Southern France where Hanna, once again, ordered escargot as a main course which Jake continues to find "weird, but intriguing".
